Ganesh Chaturthi | Ganesh Utsav.
In India, all year around lots of festivals are celebrated like Diwali, Holi, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc... People enjoy celebrating all festivals but one of them is their favorite festival. My favorite festival is the Ganesh Chaturthi.
Ganesh Chaturthi which is also called as Vinayak Chaturthi is celebrated as Ganesh Utsav all over India. Ganesh Utsav is celebrated publicly and it was started by Bal Gangadhar Tilak who is known as Lokmanya Tilak. He started this festival publicly so that people will come together without any discriminations and celebrate Ganesh Utsav and the nation will maintain unity.
The Festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated for ten days but preparations for this festival start almost a month ago. This is because Lord Ganesha is the favorite God of everyone. One day before Vinayak Chaturthi idol of Lord Ganesha is bought, people are very excited and they bring his idol while singing songs and dancing in a traditional way.
On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi according to time with Hindu ritual idol of Ganesh is set in its place. On the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, we have a holiday for school for almost a week, in every house, Modaks are made which is the favorite food of Lord Ganesh as well as of children.
In our village, there is a small "Ganesh Mandal" which carries out all responsibilities to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. The beautiful decoration is prepared which is based on the current situation of our country and gives a positive message through it. Our Ganesh Mandal carries out some programs every day which include dancing, singing, drawing, fancy dress, essay writing, and they also organize some games so that children show there interest and talent. On the last day of Ganesh Utsav prize is given to the winners.
In our village, the Ganesh idol is placed in a public place owned by our village. People in our village are very excited about this festival, and all villagers help in every work for Ganesha. Then there comes the saddest day of "Visargan" in which the idol of Ganesh is immersed in a river or sea. People are very sand on this day, they say goodbye to Ganesha and wait for next year for his arrival.
In this way, with a lot of excitement and happiness, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated all over India. And Ganesh Chaturthi is my favorite festival.
